Let's rock this motherboard
Long story short, it turns out I also needed a new motherboard for my laptop since I couldn't turn the fricking thing back on after I turned it off earlier this week. But I think we're all set now, so hopefully we can get back to normal around here this weekend and next week....
Here's what I've missed on telling you...
The Bird and The Bee's self-titled release will hit stores Tuesday the 23rd of January, so make sure you pick that up. If you're unfamiliar with them, check out their set from KCRW.
The Shins will be making a stop in Milwaukee at the Rave February 9th, so if you're in that area, definitely check that show out. If you're from the Minneapolis area, you might want to consider the Cat Empire show at the Varsity Theater on Feb 7th. Cat Empire's full length release, Two Shoes, will be out in stores on Feb 6th.
The Chalets are set to release their debut album Check In Out on Setanta Records March 27, 2007. You can stream some songs and read more about the Chalets on their website.
Featured Artist: The Lisps
The Lisps are a New York-based assemblage of 21st century post-rock n' vaudeville auteurs. They write songs about science and love and sometimes perform in costumes, with tap shoes and without microphones. The Lisps are the public/performative version of all the relationships you're struggling with.
"Local coed pop group the Lisps gives quirky indie rock a real good name. Its debut self-released EP, The Vain, the Modest, and the Dead, is smart-assed and danceable, but with an affecting core of been-around-the-block melancholy." - Time Out NY

Featured Artist: Dr. Dog
Dr. Dog is a musical band from the greater West Philadelphia area. They are interested in "three-part harmoies, the out-of-doors, hoagies, vegetables and diminished chords." They also have produced some of the best music to come out of this day and age. Music that means something in an era of mainly musical meaningless. Just think of them as some sort of beacon of ambrosial light.
Dr. Dog has been touring for the past month with The Black Keys. Also, a song from their soon-to-be-released record We All Belong, "Worst Trip" (today's Pick of the Day), was featured in the film Fast Food Nation and can be found on the soundtrack alongside songs from artists such as Elvis Perkins, Spoon, and The Capitol Years. We All Belong is set to be released on February 27th, though you can get a special sneak peak at their sure-to-blow-your-mind February 16th show:
