Happy Friday, hope you all enjoyed the week. If you're wondering why I'm posting on a Friday, well, I'm on vacation. We're heading out to Pittsburgh tomorrow until July 11th to soak up the sun a few miles away from Wisconsin and drink Yuengling til the sun goes down.
I was trying to figure out if it would be possible for me to bring some Yuengling back in a suitcase since I talk about it often but can't show it to anyone out here because it's not sold out here. After some perusal of the FAA regulations yesterday I think I've figured out that it can be packed in a suitcase, up to 5 liters worth, as long as it's sealed and in retail packaging. So it looks like I'll be bringing a few of those bad boys home with me.
Also, wanted to mention that I will be bringing my laptop with my on the trip, so expect a few midweek posts here and there when we've got downtime, which if all goes as planned, should be pretty much 100% of the time. We're hoping to spend a good chunk of the trip with Felicia's family, but I'd also like to get to Pittsburgh to see a few friends and catch a Pirates-Brewer's game while the Crew is in town.
Sports
I did my best to not watch the NBA draft last night because I pretty much have given up on the Bucks as a team, but then they go ahead and draft Yi Jianlian with their first pick. I was pretty much expecting Bucks GM Larry Harris to draft Corey Brewer, but they went ahead and called China's bluff by taking Jianlian.
As SI.com reports,
Yi's handlers did everything they could to keep him away from Milwaukee. The Bucks were not permitted to attend any of Yi's workouts and GM Larry Harris did not travel to China to see Yi play in person. According to league sources, Yi's representatives will ask the Bucks to trade Yi on Friday.
Personally, I think the Bucks could use a little international flavor, especially if Jianlian turns out to be as athletic as sources say.
Enjoy your weekend and the tunes.
John Carter Cash forges his own path
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - John Carter Cash knows all about the pressure of following in famous footsteps.
Not only was his father the musical legend Johnny Cash, his mom was June Carter Cash, a beloved member of the pioneering Carter Family.
His half-sisters, Rosanne Cash and Carlene Carter, are successful recording artists. His ex-brothers-in-law are Rodney Crowell, Marty Stuart and Nick Lowe.
"Everywhere I've gone people say, 'Why don't you sound like your dad?'" he reflected recently. Then, as if pondering the question yet again, he answered himself: "Well, God didn't make me that way."
At 37, he finds himself in the delicate position of trying to preserve the family legacy while maintaining his own identity as a producer, husband and father.
This month he released a book about his mother, ""Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash," and a companion tribute album he produced that includes Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow, Ralph Stanley, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello and Brad Paisley.
As the only child of Johnny and June Carter Cash, he saw the book as a chance to pass on to his three children an "honest interpretation of who my mother was," and, in some ways, to deal with her death...[continue reading].

The self-described "bar-brawl" music of papertrigger began in Syracuse, NY, where all five members grew up together. Throughout high school the aspiring musicians - all influenced by the likes of Ben Folds Five, Radiohead, Stevie Wonder, and Tom Waits - exchanged ideas and played music together frequently.
In the summer of 2006, the band moved to Philadelphia, fleshing out an eclectic mix of epic, piano-tinged rock songs. Opening for bands such as Copeland, The Mooney Suzuki, Braddigan (of Dispatch), and Mixel Pixel, their distinct music and theatrical performances generate fans and engage audiences wherever they play.
The self-released "Riot Lovers" EP is out now.
