Caught the new Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie last night with the family. Fairly intricately devised with a lot of plot building, but I thought it fell a bit short in punch, dare I say a bit short as well? Almost as if they were spending the entire movie setting up the next one. Regardless, still some good old family fun with Potter and the gang, although I still refuse to read any of the books.

Auxiliary House is a different kind of band. Made up of 12 multi-instrumentalists from the various bands in the Trekky Records Collective and Record Label. Members of The Never, Lost in the Trees, Vibrant Green, Butterflies and Alvarez Painting join together to become Trekky Records' Official House Band. With so many different members, the style of the music is variable, but it usually incorporates accordion, violin, viola, trumpet, trombone, french horn, saxaphone and flute while staying in the context of a rock band. The result is a mini-folk orchestra with a vast palate of sonic textures. The outcome can be as disparate as raucous country romps, brass fanfare, sparse folk tunes, avant-appalachia, irreverent twee pop, orchestral flirtations, and psychedelic rock songs, all the while retaining a care for memorable melodies and beats that compel movement.
The 12-piece will be touring the East Coast in a 44-passenger bus, converted to run on vegetable oil. The Auxiliary House ethos is to make the live show a communal and interactive experience for both the audience and band. The band's performances often evolve into a series of percussion jams, campfire sing-a-longs, and orchestral washes.
